The microgrid industry is growing by leaps and bounds, and will certainly be a transformative force in the future of energy, resilience and sustainability. But the road ahead is undefined, and as an industry we risk having that pathway defined for us. It’s imperative that we get engaged and pave our own road forward. In this video, Elisa Wood, editor-in-chief of Microgrid Knowledge also announces the winners of the 2020 Microgrid Greater Good Awards, including the Global Himalayan Expedition (GHE), which was named as the top prize winner for 2020. The India-based company won the award for a solar microgrid in Batambis, a remote Himalayan village almost 14,000 feet above sea level, with no roads or electric grid and cut off from the world by snowfall for six months out of the year. The video features an interview with Paras Loomba, the founder of GHE.
