National Town Meeting to Focus on Integration of Distributed Energy Resources

May 1, 2015
In 2015 the National Town Meeting on DR and Smart Grid will focus on how to integrate DR and other Distributed Energy Resources (DER) on the modern grid.
The National Town Meeting on Demand Response and Smart Grid, to be held May 26-28 in Washington, DC, is the premier event in the US focused on the business and policy aspects of demand response and its enabling technologies and applications. It is unique in that it devotes an entire day to roundtable discussions featuring experts in demand response and smart grid, who discuss with each other and with the audience the latest trends, issues, and business developments.

This year’s Roundtables will feature Public Utility Commissioners from California, Texas, Arizona, and Minnesota, along with executives from leading utilities, Baltimore Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, National Grid, and Dominion. They will be joined by technology executives from Comverge, Landis+Gyr, Siemens, EnergyHub, and more. The roundtables will wrap up with an exciting panel discussing the developments with the New York State Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) process.

The National Town Meeting also features panel discussions, case studies, and presentations of best practices. Breakout sessions will explore the future of DR, integration of electric vehicles and solar, microgrids, consumer engagement, and much more.

Another hallmark of the event is attendee engagement, whether through Q&A sessions with top business leaders and policymakers, through formal electronic voting, or through the National Town Meeting’s receptions and other networking sessions.

In 2015 the National Town Meeting on DR and Smart Grid will continue to focus on how to integrate DR and other Distributed Energy Resources (DER) on the modern grid. Integration is the word that keeps coming up in the conversations taking place within the DR and smart grid community. The question on everyone’s mind is “how are all of the new technologies that are bursting onto the electricity scene going to be planned, deployed, and operated in a way that takes advantage of what they offer while keeping the electricity system reliable and economical?” The Town Meeting will talk not just about integrating DR, but other DER like DG, storage, EVs, microgrids, distribution automation systems, etc.

Advanced registration for the event runs through May 18. More information on the Town Meeting can be found by clicking here.
