In this video, you’ll learn about the latest innovations in campus microgrids from the experts designing, installing and managing three impressive projects.

First, Justin Nieves of Scale Microgrid Solutions gives a preview of a Washington, D.C., microgrid that will accomplish the unusual feat of serving its host — a university for deaf and hard of hearing students — and powering a community solar program.

Then, James DiLiberto of AZZO and Adam Fletcher of Deakin University in Australia share the story of the Deakin University Renewable Energy Microgrid, which reduces 12,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year while acting as a learning center for microgrids.

Finally, John Igo of Mainspring Energy and Wayne Johnson of Duke Energy give you an inside look at a microgrid being developed for a new campus research center in Florida that will incorporate a linear generator running a hydrogen-blend fuel to firm a solar array at the facility.

This session is moderated by Adib Naslé of Xendee and includes a question and answer session recorded during the live event.

This video was recorded during Microgrid 2022: Microgrids as Climate Heroes. The two-day event was designed to bring together industry leaders, visionaries, and those curious about microgrids. Held in June of 2022 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the editors at Microgrid Knowledge gathered microgrid leaders for two days of interactive sessions designed to help innovators, developers, utilities, and technology and engineering firms exploring the microgrid space.

The event featured more than 100 speakers across thirty sessions. Panel discussions covered big picture ideas around macro economic influences on the microgrid market, how microgrids can be a building block of US infrastructure and climate goals, why microgrids are becoming important to military missions, the challenges with supporting an electrified economy, and the future of microgrids. The event also included multiple breakout sessions where panelists presented real-world case studies. Each session allowed audience members to ask questions of the panelists.
