Energy giant NRG Energy, a leader in both distributed energy and utility-scale clean energy, will be exclusive sponsor at CSP Today USA 2014, which will be held  June 5-6 in Las Vegas.

NRG Energy who partly own and operate the 392 MW Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System will be giving a presentation at CSP Today USA 2014 about running the world’s largest CSP plant. At the conference will be speaking alongside project developer BrightSource Energy about the successes and challenges of developing a plant of such scale.

On the day before the conference (4th June) NRG Energy will also be giving a guided tour of the plant to delegates of CSP Today USA. The site visit is a first glance at the operational plant which received a Loan Guarantee of over $1.6 billion as a result of the Department of Energy’s Loan Guarantee Program.

The Ivanpah plant was unveiled by Energy Secretary Dr. Ernest Moniz at the inaugural opening ceremony in February this year after months of anticipation. The plant features over 175’000 heliostats pointing at three towers over 450ft tall.

NRG Energy operates the plant via their wholly owned subsidiary NRG Energy Services who are responsible for the operations and maintenance of the plant.

At CSP Today USA 2014 (5-6, June Las Vegas) Ivanpah developers NRG Energy and BrightSource Energy will also be speaking about the Ivanpah project.  If you want to find out the full agenda details and speaker line-up at CSP Today USA 2014 then visit here.
