New data center models use microgrids and clean energy to provide flexibility that reduces grid stress.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held this week at Bimbo Bakeries’ Montebello location, marking the launch of microgrids at six of the company's California facilities. The microgrids are expected to provide around 20% of the combined electricity needs for the sites.
The answer is complicated, as a new study shows there's no single solution.
Cumulus data center campus owner and nuclear power plant owner Talen Energy agreed to sell the facility to AWS for approximately $650 million. It is directly connected to the Susquehanna Nuclear Station.
The city's air quality agency has created one hub and plans to add microgrid-powered sanctuaries.
