Benefits of sectionalizing the power grid: Webinar June 16

June 7, 2022
Join Microgrid Knowledge and a panel of experts for a webinar June 16 at 2 p.m. EST to learn about sectionalizing the grid and the evolution of microgrid clustering.

Microgrids are a promising solution because of their ability to disconnect from the traditional grid and operate autonomously. This can help the grid recover more quickly after a disruption from severe weather events or natural disasters.

One hurdle slowing the widespread adoption of microgrids is the cost of deployment, but the concept of sectionalizing the grid through the use of advanced microgrid control and integration techniques may help overcome that challenge.

To learn more about sectionalizing the grid and the evolution of microgrid clustering, join us Thursday, June 16 at 2 p.m. EST for a live webinar hosted by Microgrid Knowledge and featuring a panel of industry experts.

Registration is now open for the educational panel discussion, which will be held Thursday, June 16 at 2 p.m. EST. Click here to register.

“Benefits of Sectionalizing the Power Grid” will feature Jacqueline Baum, technical leader/integration of DERs, microgrids and DERMS at the Electric Power Research Institute, Shashank Pande, software solutions architect for utility control center solutions at Siemens Grid Software US, and Honghao Zheng, manager of grid strategy and analytics at Commonwealth Edison. Elisa Wood, editor-in-chief of Microgrid Knowledge will be the moderator. These industry experts will share insights and examples of how a resilient community microgrid can be managed by sectionalization.

During the one-hour webinar, panelists will discuss:

  • Transmission and distribution resiliency planning methods to identify community microgrid placements, configurations and viable pathways along a feeder.
  • How to use real-time measurement data and available pathway options to create flexible microgrid boundaries.
  • How to enable peer-to-peer resilient communication systems that provide fail-safe and cybersecure microgrid operations during a crisis event.

Register for “Benefits of Sectionalizing the Power Grid” now. Can’t attend the live event on June 16? If you register now, you will be notified when you can watch the webinar “on demand.”
