H.G. Chissell of Advanced Energy Group to serve as master of ceremonies for Microgrid 2018

Microgrid 2018: Markets and Models for the Greater Good” follows the highly successful Microgrid 2017, which attracted more than 460 microgrid companies and their customers to Boston earlier this month.

“Chissell brings to our next conference his engaging stage presence and deep understanding of changing energy markets and the customers they serve. He’s a tremendous addition to what’s shaping up as our most exciting event yet,” said Elisa Wood, editor-in-chief of Microgrid Knowledge.

Through his work at Advanced Energy Group, Chissell offers a stakeholder member platform focused on bringing needed electric grid modernization to key cities. AEG members and participants include the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Illinois Commerce Commission, City of Boston and Chicago, PJM, the New York Independent System Operator, Consolidated Edison, Commonwealth Edison, Pepco, National Grid, the Department of Energy, the General Services Administration, Amtrak, S&C Electric, Chicago Transit Authority, PowerSecure and many more.

“Microgrid 2018 will focus on some of the key industries served by microgrids, among them data centers, utilities, universities, hospitals and municipalities. Chissell already works closely with these groups, so is the perfect facilitator for Microgrid 2018,” said Kevin Normandeau, publisher of Microgrid Knowledge.

Before founding Advanced Energy Group, Chissell assisted with the launch of GridMarket, a distributed energy software platform and served as senior vice president of strategic accounts for Viridity Energy, a software/service firm focused on virtual power generation and advanced energy optimization.

Chissell was with Viridity Energy from its beginning in 2009, leading the company’s growth of megawatts under management and strategic expansion throughout PJM, NYISO and ERCOT across all key verticals. The company achieved the first behind-the-meter frequency regulation battery project in PJM, first 1 MW behind-the-meter battery project in Chicago, first full spectrum demand response battery project in New York City and first multi-site EV2Grid project with the Pentagon in PJM and ERCOT.

A gathering for the industry’s thought leaders, Microgrid 2018 will focus on uncovering market opportunities and business models to drive the industry forward. The microgrid event also will examine the public purpose served by microgrids, underscored during recent hurricanes.

Because of the overwhelming response to Microgrid 2017, Microgrid Knowledge encourages early registration to guarantee your place in Chicago. Attendees can register now here.

Decentralization: How Microgrids Contribute to the Energy Transition
In the early 20th century, the centralization of electricity production made huge process, enabling significant economies of scale and improved power plant efficiency. Today, decentralization could help tackle the energy challenges of the 21st century by creating an optimized way to access reliable, green and resilient energy. Download the white paper from Schneider Electric that explores decentralization and the role of microgrids.
