How the California Drought Affects Energy Storage and Microgrid Markets

June 2, 2015
How does the California drought affect energy storage and microgrid markets? Darren Hammell, chief strategy officer of Princeton Power explains in this podcast interview with Lisa Cohn.
California’s water worries prompted the state to require utilities to acquire unprecedented amounts of energy storage. Similar worries could prompt other states to support solar and storage to help ease drought problems. And that will help boost the storage and microgrid markets, says Darren Hammell, co-founder and chief strategy officer for Princeton Power Systems. Among other things, distributed energy systems help ease drought problems by using much less water than traditional power plants, he says in this podcast.
