Xendee, Mainspring Energy partnering on Microgrid Project Development

Linear generator maker Mainspring Energy announced it is now partnering with modeling software platform Xendee on microgrid and electric vehicle charging projects.

The collaboration will utilize Xendee’s work with customers to optimize project development and economics. It also incorporates Mainspring’s linear generators into the mix of resources for projects, according to the announcement.

“We wouldn’t be more excited to be working together,” Mainspring Energy wrote in a recent LinkedIn post about the new partnership with Xendee.

Mainspring’s linear generator offers fuel flexibility and can operate on gas, ammonia, hydrogen and biogas. Xendee offers distributed energy resource (DER) design and operation platforms for an array of projects from microgrids serving the commercial and indusrial sectors, including EV charging and grid services such as demand charge reduction.

In March, microgrid developer and smart grid infrastructure firm Schneider Electric announced plans to integrate Mainspring’s fuel-flexible generator into its offerings to customers. That partnership will combine the linear generator with Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Microgrid solution.

Xendee and Endeavor Business Media recently delivered a new report focusing on how DERs and microgrids can better serve the growing EV charging movement. A key hindrance to EV adoption is centered around charging availability concerns, given the limitations of the utility-scale grid in adapting to meet the power resource needs of that infrastructure.

"2024 Market Survey: Commercial EV Charging" is an extension of Xendee’s 2023 report and renews the focus on alternatives for fleet electrification needs. Endeavor Business Media is the parent company of Microgrid Knowledge.
