Started on the U.C. Berkeley campus in 2005, the informal annual Microgrid Symposium has been circumnavigating the globe ever since. And the 2017 event is coming up this fall.

The 2017 Microgrid Symposium will be held this year at the CSIRO Energy Centre in Newcastle, Australia.

This critical mass of microgrid brainpower will be held this year at the CSIRO Energy Centre for the Newcastle 2017 Symposium on Microgrids. The event is scheduled for November 29-30. This is the first year  the symposium has been held in Australia, which is fast emerging as a leader in microgrid development and grid defection.

This critical mass of microgrid brainpower will be held this year at the CSIRO Energy Centre for the Newcastle 2017 Symposium on Microgrids.

About two hours north of Sydney, Newcastle rests in the midst of the spectacular New South Wales coastline, and the Hunter Valley wine region. As usual, about 120 of the world’s invited top microgrid researchers, policymakers and developers will enjoy two packed days of presentations, networking and general microgrid chatter, plus a day of local technical visits.

Sessions are organized by region, Asia, Europe and The Americas, and experts from each region choose the speakers and organization that best represent microgrid progress in their region during the last year. There will also be a special panel on hardware, a poster display, and the ever-popular remote applications session.

Plenty of time is allowed for serious networking, and breaks and mealtimes are informal. Most of the papers and posters from past symposiums can be seen and downloaded from the Symposium’s website.

The Microgrid Symposium is a by-invitation-only event, but you can visit the event page here.

If you would like to receive an invitation for the upcoming event, email your request to: newcastle@microgrid-symposiums.org.
