FirstFuel Software enhanced its Remote Building Analytics platform, which uses advanced data analytics to drive commercial energy efficiency at mass scale. FirstFuel has appointed former Groom Energy executive Paul Baier as vice president of products to spearhead adoption and implementation of the groundbreaking new platform. The RBA platform consists of five products delivered through a secure, customizable cloud-based web portal.

Verde Energy USA announced the results of three clean energy efficiency pilot projects that it launched in the first half of 2013. Verde Energy installed its clean energy storage system, called the Ice Bear, in three Illinois cities, St. Charles, Naperville, and Evanston. The Ice Bear technology resulted in lower energy costs and increased grid reliability in all three municipalities. Findings from the study include a 95 percent reduction in HVAC electricity use during 6 hour peak demand period at all three locations.

Plug Power received a significant GenKey contract from a leading retailer to roll out its turnkey hydrogen fuel cell system solutions at six North America distribution centers over a two-year period. The first site is expected to be operational in the second quarter of 2014. The multi-site GenKey deal includes over 1,500 GenDrive PEM fuel cell power units coupled with multi-year contracts for GenFuel hydrogen, GenFuel fueling infrastructure, and GenCare service.

Comverge announced that its customer, Pepco Holdings, has won the 2014 POWERGRID International Project of the Year award for its direct load control program, called Energy Wise Rewards. Recognized in the demand response/energy efficiency category, PHI’s Energy Wise Rewards program deployed more than 300,000 energy management devices for over 260,000 customers in Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and the District of Columbia. The award is based on the size and scope of the project, level of innovation used, and benefit to the utility, its customers, and the power industry as a whole. In the five years since the program was launched, it has provided more than 300 MW of peak demand electricity capacity.
