Next month’s EE Global forum in Washington, D.C. will feature two energy heads of state – one from the world’s largest economy and the other from its most energy efficient.
Ernest Moniz, U.S. energy secretary, and Rasmus Helveg Petersen, Danish minister of climate, energy and building, will address the energy leaders gathering May 20-21. It will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
Moniz made last year’s EE Global his first public speaking stop after being appointed energy secretary.
Hosted by the Alliance to Save Energy, EE Global 2014 looks at how to improve the resiliency of energy efficiency in the face of a changing climate landscape. Top energy visionaries will be answering the question: How can energy efficiency center itself for improved resilience and remain a viable energy resource for the future?
Foregoing the typical conference slides and canned language, delegates will interact with senior energy officials, thought leaders, and experts from across the energy spectrum and the globe in an intimate, discussion-based environment.
This year’s EE Global attendees come from 24 countries, according to the conference organizers. They represent government (23 percent), NGO/academia (33 percent), and industry (34 percent). EE Global delegates also continue to be leaders in their field. Of the non-government participants, 43 percent are vice president level or above and an additional 30 percent are director-level. EE Global Dialogue Sessions
The event will include a series of executive dialogues that focus on energy efficiency investment, infrastructure and market transformation, as well as the role of government. Expert-led discussion will explore such topics as:
- Has clean energy stimulus funding helped us transform markets or just get past a slump?
- How do we encourage small and medium enterprise to invest in and adopt energy efficiency?
- How can big data and collection efforts unlock capital markets?
