DTE Energy Seeks Contractor to Evaluate Energy Efficiency Programs; Respond by June 12

Detroit-based utility DTE Energy is seeking vendors for evaluation, measurement and verification services for its energy efficiency programs.

Detroit-based utility DTE Energy is seeking vendors for evaluation, measurement and verification services for its energy efficiency programs.

The utility requires the analytical services for the residential and commercial/industrial portfolio of energy-efficiency programs that will be offered by both its electric and natural gas units in 2016 and 2017.

DTE Energy plans to contract with a consultant to provide ongoing, independent evaluation services. The work includes impact and process evaluations, ongoing consulting and support for DTE Energy’s participation in statewide energy-efficiency collaboratives.

The bid winner must have extensive experience and demonstrated ability in all aspects of energy-efficiency program design, implementation, monitoring, measurements, verification and valuation, and energy-efficiency program evaluation techniques, strategies and principles.

DTE Energy will have invested about $600 million in energy efficiency by the end of 2015. The utility says that customers who participated in its 2014 energy efficiency programs, alone, will save $585 million over the lifetime of their energy-saving upgrades.

The utility’s energy efficiency program stems from a 2008 directive by the Michigan Legislature to establish an energy optimization program to help customers control energy use, save money, improve the environment and help delay power plant construction.

Since 2009, electric customers have saved enough money to power all the homes in Ann Arbor for nearly four years. Natural gas customers have saved enough to heat all of the homes in Ann Arbor for more than a year, according to the utility.

DTE energy is a diversified energy company involved in the development and management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide. Its operating units include an electric utility serving 2.1 million customers in Southeastern Michigan and a natural gas utility serving 1.2 million customers in Michigan.

The DTE Energy portfolio includes non-utility energy businesses focused on power and industrial projects, natural gas pipelines, gathering and storage, and energy marketing and trading.

For more information about the RFP, contact [email protected] no later than June 12.
